Hermosa Beach Museum: “CHEERS, HERMOSA” — New Exhibition

The Hermosa Beach Museum opens its new summer exhibition “CHEERS, HERMOSA” on July 14 — an exploration of the city’s historic bars, dive bars, and drinking culture that shaped the character of this beach town. For a city whose identity has long been tied to its Pier Ave bar scene, this is exactly the kind of exhibition the museum was made for.

The opening reception on July 14 (2–4pm) is free and open to the public — a chance to see the exhibition fresh and meet the people behind it. The show runs through the end of September, giving you most of the summer to visit. Hermosa Beach’s story is inseparable from the places where people have gathered, argued, celebrated, and become regulars — this exhibition tells that story through photographs, artifacts, and oral history.

Worth pairing with a walk down Pier Ave and dinner nearby. The museum is a local gem that most even long-term residents have never actually visited.
